I still can't believe I got roped into watching Naruto. I'm pretty sure that two straight days of ignoring almost everything else to watch an anime has officially killed my brain.
15th-Mar-2007 05:10 pm - I'm amused
This makes me laugh.

Now, I've never thought of dixy-pixy.org as original, nor have I ever thought of them as above average, but after looking at the said proofs that the owner of Arcadia has so gracefully pointed out, I can't say I agree that it was "stolen."

Perhaps I'm just blind. Yes, I do see similarities, but not enough to be able to point at Dixy-pixy.org and say, that is a blatant copy. These similarities can be seen with works in Production Symphonia as well, does that mean one of them copied the other?

At least dixy-pixy.org has a functional layout and navigation system. That much we know wasn't copied from Arcadia.
3rd-Feb-2007 09:40 pm - What will we think of next?
I'm horrible at this LJ business, I really am.

[info]kuchren revealed that she was planning a WPR of WPRs, and I find it amusing. It's supposed to be co-owned with Megori. I vaguely remember Megori from the earlier Acerbic Bitches days (un)fortunately as the girl who was extremely vocal about her opinions.

It will be interesting to see what the site ends up like; I'm aware of Mei's reviewing style, but I have never actually read anything by Megori that wasn't extremely vocal. But then again, WPRs are supposed to be just another opinion. I wonder, though, how many people would complain about the unrequested reviews that Mei claims will be part of the site. We already have a bet going for how long it'll take for people to label the new WPR of WPRs the successor of Acerbic Bitches, would anyone else like to join in on the betting process?
6th-Jan-2007 09:57 pm - I deserve a link for my theft!
[info]kuchren: http://tafanino.com/ asd;lfkjas;ldkfj;laksdjf... T_T
[info]oxygenated317: Yes?
[info]kuchren: What is it with people and not crediting?
[info]oxygenated317: You were expecting her to credit?
[info]kuchren: ... Good point. But she's not the only one.
[info]oxygenated317: Unfortunately.

And then we went on to have a conversation about crediting, which sparked some interest in me.

It all started with this layout which offended a certain someone and in turn offended me (simply because I had it shoved in my face whilst I was stressing. Thank you, love, for being subtle.) The layout itself isn't that bad; but the site that she got the image from claims (and I quote):

Do not use any images on your site.

But perhaps she didn't read that? Except [info]kuchren emailed her to tell her. And yet the entry is still there, so... obviously, some sort of communication was lost somewhere along the way.

I have friends who are artists, and I've seen first-hand the time it takes for them to produce something worthy of praise. As a friend, I get annoyed easily if people take their art for granted. So it is easier for me to get offended when others don't pay attention to the rules laid out by other artists. (Especially when their own terms of usage states "Give complete credit.")

Which brings me to why I hate Aethereality.net so much. People have seen the site on Acerbic Bitches' "Hit List" and asked, "what has Ivy ever done to you?" Well, the answer is: nothing.

Note her gallery's terms of usage:

* No hot linking.
* Credit the original artists.
* Please link back to Aethereality Gallery.
* Do not post anything scanned by me on forums or user submitted gallery sites (e.g. MiniTokyo and AnimePaper)
* Email me if you want to post these images on your sites.
* Support the artists by purchasing the original publications.

Note her most recent update on her main site:

On a slight note, scans credit that contains an asterisk next to my name (e.g. Ivy*) means the artbook was partially scanned by me. I seldom find high quality scans on torrents, p2p servers. Instead of rescanning everything in the whole book, I only scan the pages needed to complete each artbook gallery. If you are the original scanner of the other portion of the book, let me know. Enjoy the additions and have a great weekend.

Partially scanned; as in, "I didn't fully scan it." She's taken the time to state "Scanned by Ivy (*)" and yet she doesn't take the time to credit the other places she got the other images from. And yet she asks for a link back for slapping an image on her site and archiving it.

Well, if that's the case, may I slap her layouts onto my "layout gallery" site and ask for a link back?

Mei has proper credits, so do Veve and Skye. (I've been told by Mei greatness of Skye for only using images she has permission to use and providing full crediting. Hence why she's on the list.) So why can't everyone else do the same?
24th-Dec-2006 12:11 am - Holiday humor
(Fashykekes) Capitalization is the difference between "I had to help my uncle Jack off a horse.." and "I had to help my uncle jack off a horse.."

Amen. Take that, you idiots who can't type properly.

(studdud) what the fuck is wtf

(Fulgore) whats the complement to a 43 degree angle?
(sparks) My you're looking "acute" today
(Fulgore) fuck you

(kyourek) There was a 23% drop in temperature.
(nappyjallapy) That's almost 25%!
(kyourek) ... That was one of the most worthless comments I've ever heard.

Wow, you can tell I've had way too much to drink. Or maybe I should just have more.
16th-Dec-2006 11:51 pm - Sorry, but you just don't cut it
You, my dear, should know by now that I take my music very seriously. I'm disappointed in the fact that you actually thought you could use me as a crutch to further yourself. I'm sorry, but no matter how 'good' of friends we are, I'm not going to help recommend you anywhere if you're not serious about what you're doing. I understand that music is just a hobby for you and that you have more important things in life; but that doesn't mean you can half-ass your way through auditions and expect me to stick up for you.

I'm incredibly bitter right now. If you don't work for it, you don't get it; that's how things should work.
12th-Dec-2006 08:41 pm - I now have a reason to slack off
This makes me laugh.

Life’s unfair. I mean, come on. Asians even have disadvantages in getting into college because they’re smart. Yes. It’s true. Since so many Asians get into top colleges, if you’re Asian, you have to work even harder than everyone else to get into those colleges.

I've heard of this girl from other people. But really, it's funny. Hilarious, even.

Some more things said by this girl on this forum topic, of which I was referred to.

My parents are also against blacks and hispanics. However, this is mainly due to their smartness factor (which causes the racism). You see, whites and Asians are usually smarter than blacks and hispanics (even if you disagree, they make better scores on tests as a whole and are more successful). Thus, the reason why my parents wouldn't want me dating people of those ethnicities are because these people do not have the capability to measure up to a certain intelligence.

I am very close friends with a young, talented, black musician who didn't start out talented or driven. I'm wondering how people can just look at an uneducated person and say, "I'm smarter than you because of my race and my parents don't want me associating with you."

Edit I think I'm going to get myself some userpics soon...
9th-Dec-2006 02:07 pm - Domains, domains, and more domains
I fail to see the attraction to owning a domain. There are those that deserve them and then those that just take up space.

I want a shorter URL
Get z.tyl.cc if you really want something short. Note how half the domains out there are anything but short.

I want to be in control of my own site
And you can with a host? Last time I checked, we had full control over Acerbic Bitches.

And then there are those horrific contests in which the owner offers a domain simply because it's the cool thing to do. News-flash: just because you know how to jump up and down ten times doesn't mean you should be given a domain. (Don't even get me started on contests that offer irrelevant prizes...)

I fail to understand why more and more people are spending so much money on buying domains when they don't even know what HTML is.
25th-Nov-2006 11:31 pm - So Thanksgiving was a drag...
My talk with [info]shadowstalkim was entertaining, even if I was half asleep. Other than that though, Thanksgiving was a drag. I managed a 5-minute conversation with Felixa and an even shorter one with my family. But I guess spending some quality time with my poor, neglected cello wasn't that bad of a thing.

On a slightly brighter note, I do believe this site has managed to creep into my frequented list. The premade layouts for the most part look like crud, but the wallpapers make up for them. I think I've spent about an hour looking through every single wallpaper on that site. I sincerely hope she wins the Blinding Light Web Awards because she'd deserve it more than any of the other shit that's made it on there.
After much pushing from [info]kuchren to get a Livejournal account, I finally got around to doing it. (And its all to stalk [info]shadowstalkim, is it not?)

I can already see this "friends only" feature coming in handy.
